Oil Mist Separator

In modern industrial environments where precision machining and metalworking operations rely on cooling lubricants, effective oil mist control is not just a matter of compliance—it’s essential for workplace safety, equipment longevity, and operational efficiency. Oil mist separators represent a critical component in industrial air filtration systems, designed to capture and remove airborne oil particles, aerosol mists, and oil vapor before they contaminate your facility or harm your workforce.

Gram Clean Air’s comprehensive range of oil mist filtration systems delivers proven technology for industrial oil mist removal across manufacturing facilities of all sizes. From compact machine-mounted units to centralized multi-stage filtration solutions, our oil mist filters provide reliable air quality improvement while reducing maintenance costs and energy consumption.

Understanding Oil Mist Separation Technology

Oil mist separators are specialized industrial filtration solutions engineered to address the unique challenges posed by machining operations using cooling lubricants. When metalworking processes generate oil mist, emulsion mist, minimal quantity lubrication, and oil smoke, these airborne oil particles create hazardous working conditions and can damage sensitive equipment. Our mist collectors employ advanced air oil separation techniques to effectively capture contaminants at the source.

The filtration process combines multiple separation stages, each optimized for different particle sizes and mist types. Pre-separation removes larger droplets through cyclone effect and density-based collection, while subsequent filter stages capture fine aerosol particles down to 0.1µm. This multi-stage approach ensures comprehensive oil mist reduction while maintaining energy efficiency and extending filter life.

Product Range: Complete Oil Mist Filtration Systems

OUF Series: Point-of-Source Pre-Separation

Our OUF oil mist filter provides essential pre-separation directly at individual processing machines where cooling lubricants are used. Mounted at the machine level, the OUF prevents oil mists from entering central piping systems, protecting infrastructure and maintaining air quality throughout your facility.

Technical Specifications :

  • Air volume: Up to 2,000m³/h
  • Vacuum: Up to 2,000Pa
  • Filtration efficiency: Normally up to 85%

Process air at temperatures up to +35°C enters through a tangential inlet connection, creating a cyclone effect that initiates separation. Air is then filtered through a washable pore filter, with collected oil accumulating in the bottom reservoir. This separated oil can be returned to the machine or drained via the mounted drain cock, with the oil pan conveniently suspended in a bayonet fitting for tool-free maintenance.

After oil mist pre-separation by OUF, air should be filtered by a multistage oil mist filter, such as the OUK series, ensuring emission demands are met and providing comprehensive coolant mist extraction.

OUK Series: Centralized Multi-Stage Filtration

For applications requiring centralized filtration, our OUK multistage oil mist separator delivers exceptional performance for separating oil mist aerosols from multiple processing machines. This industrial oil separator achieves emission levels normally below 1mg/m³, meeting stringent regulatory requirements.

Technical Specifications :

  • Air volume: Up to 16,000m³/h
  • Vacuum: Up to 5,000Pa
  • Filter area: Pre-filter: 0.5-2m², F9: 19-76m²
  • Filtration efficiency: F9 standard, H13 optional

The three-stage separation process includes speed reduction, pre-separation in washable grease filter (pore filter 35), and fine filtration in compact F9 filter. Optional HEPA filter (H13) provides a fourth stage for applications demanding maximum air quality improvement. Process air at temperatures up to +25°C enters through the bottom inlet connection, with separated oil collected in the bottom reservoir equipped with a drain cock.

OUPC Series: Compact Machine-Mounted Solutions

Our OUPC compact multi-stage filters mount directly on processing machines, offering space-saving oil mist collection for facilities with height restrictions or limited floor space.

OUPC 500/510 and 1000/1010 :

  • Air volume: Up to 500m³/h and 1,000m³/h respectively
  • Horizontal construction for machine-top mounting
  • Integrated fan options (510/1010 models)

OUPC 2000/2020 and 4000/4040 :

  • Air volume: Up to 2,000m³/h and 4,000m³/h respectively
  • Vertical floor-mounted configuration
  • Integrated fan options (2020/4040 models)

All OUPC models employ a comprehensive 4-stage separator principle: pre-separation chamber, washable pore filter P35/PPi35, DIN-cartridge G104A with micro-glass filter material (>99% filtration of particles above 0.1µm), and HEPA-filter H13 (>99.95% removal of smoke particles down to 0.1µm). This versatile design handles oil mist, emulsion mist, minimal quantity lubrication, and oil smoke with equal effectiveness.

Applications Across Industrial Processes

Our oil mist safety measures protect workers and equipment across diverse metalworking operations utilizing cooling lubricants, including CNC machining, grinding, milling, turning, and honing. The equipment effectively manages various coolant types—from straight oils to water-based emulsions and synthetic coolants—ensuring optimal oil particle filter performance regardless of your specific application.

Benefits of Direct Machine-Mounted Oil Vapor Control

Installing industrial oil mist removal systems directly at processing machines delivers multiple operational advantages:

Health and Safety : Hazardous effects on breathing and skin are significantly reduced, creating safer working conditions and minimizing occupational health risks associated with prolonged aerosol exposure.

Accident Prevention : Oil mist control eliminates slippery floors caused by dripping from piping systems, reducing workplace accidents and associated liability.

Fire Risk Reduction : Oil mist safety measures minimize fire hazards and prevent oil mist aerosols from damaging sensitive electronics within machinery.

Cost Reduction : Cleaning and maintenance expenses decrease substantially as oil deposits in piping and on surfaces are prevented through effective oil mist collection.

Energy Efficiency : Oil particle filter systems reduce energy consumption by lowering required air speeds in ventilation channels and preventing oil deposits on light sources that diminish illumination efficiency.

Construction and Customization

All filter cabinets feature robust construction from 1.5mm black steel plate with powder-enamelled RAL 7042/7011 structure surface finish. Hot-galvanized, enamelled steel plate versions are available for outdoor mounting requirements. Units can be configured for cooling lubricants containing boric acid with modified joints and filter sealings.

Differential pressure monitoring via Minihelic manometers enables proactive filter maintenance, optimizing operational efficiency and extending component life. Easy connection and operation characterize all models, with tool-free filter access and straightforward installation procedures.

Expert Selection Assistance

Selecting the optimal oil mist filtration system requires consideration of air volume requirements, cooling lubricant type and volume, operation times, and specific application parameters. Our technical team provides comprehensive support in specifying equipment that delivers maximum performance and value for your industrial filtration solutions needs.
